She was dragged into the situation through no choice of her own.Īnd that's the crux of the issue- just because YOU personally would be thrilled if ND "ripped off your likeness," doesn't mean everyone else on the planet has to feel the same way you do. Ellen was forced to eventually address it because it was actually impeding her from doing her job- promoting Beyond: Two Souls, because people kept asking her about a completely unrelated game that she had no involvement in. If you looked at the comments on the early videos, articles, at least half of them would mention Ellen Page. They changed it because MANY, MANY people thought Ellen Page was Ellie's VA and was associated with TLOU. Oh yeah, because writing ONE mildly joking, super polite answer on a reddit AMA after someone asked about it = her relentlessly complaining. Seriously, like, who cares anyway? I'd be happy if someone wanted to RIP OFF my likeness - as she puts it - for an animated character in the Game of the Year for 2013! Sheesh!

Here's a link to the first and updated trailers: What kind of bothers me just a little is that ND never really said anything about it and just altered her look after the controversy came up, so it makes ND look kind of suspicious/guilty. Then again, it is kind of rude doing something that like to an actor without their permission when they get no pay/recognition from it. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, maybe they thought that she was beautiful enough and used her face (You can't blame them Ellen Page is pretty). What I've wondered is if ND purposely made Ellie look like Ellen Page at first. What a lot of people don't know is that Ellie's original look was altered to look more like Ashley, and even with her look altered, a lot of people still thinks she resembles Ellen Page (I personally don't think she does anymore, I like this Ellie more).

I thought the character of Ellie looked WAY too much like Ellen Page, thus which is why a lot of people thought it was her. So let's all look back on when the The Last of Us trailer debuted.
